रोग और पंचमहाभूत:- हम जानते हैं कि मानव शरीर पंचमहाभूत से मिलकर बना है। यह प्रत्येक अंग में विद्यमान है, किंतु इसका एक निश्चित अनुपात होता है। यदि इस अनुपात में परिवर्तन होता है, तो शरीर में असंतुलन पैदा होता है। यह असंतुलन ही रोग के रूप में परिलक्षित होता है। यदि पंचमहाभूत उसे संतुलन पुनः स्थापित हो जाए, तो रोग से निवृत्ति हो जाती है।

प्रमुख हस्त मुद्राएं:- हस्त मुद्राएं अनेक प्रकार की होती है, प्रमुख हस्त मुद्राओं का परिचय निम्नलिखित है।

1. पृथ्वी मुद्रा :- पृथ्वी मुद्रा में पृथ्वी तत्व की प्रतिनिधि अनामिका उंगली मतलब छोटी उंगली के पास वाली उंगली को अंगूठे से स्पर्श किया जाता है।

2. जल मुद्रा :- जल मुद्रा में जल तत्व की प्रतिनिधि कनिष्ठका उंगली का, मतलब सबसे छोटी उंगली को अंगूठे से स्पर्श किया जाता है।

3. वायु मुद्रा :- वायु मुद्रा  में वायु तत्व की प्रतिनिधि तर्जनी मतलब अंगूठे के पास वाली उंगली को अंगूठे की जड़ से स्पर्श किया जाता है और अंगूठे से तर्जनी उंगली को हल्का सा दबाया जाता है।

4. आकाश मुद्रा :- आकाश मुद्रा में आकाश तत्व की प्रतिनिधि मध्यमा मतलब सबसे बीच वाली उंगली को अंगूठे से स्पर्श किया जाता है।

5. मुष्ठिकम मुद्रा :- इसमें दोनों हाथों की उंगलियों को मुट्ठी बांधकर एक-दूसरे को पास पास रखते हैं और परस्पर हल्का दबाते हैं।

6. प्राण मुद्रा :- इसमें पृथ्वी तत्व की प्रतिनिधि अनामिका जो सबसे छोटी उंगली के पास होती है और जल तत्व की प्रतिनिधि सबसे छोटी उंगली को अंगूठे से स्पर्श किया जाता है।

7. सूर्य मुद्रा :- इसमें पृथ्वी तत्व की प्रतिनिधि अनामिका उंगली मतलब सबसे छोटी उंगली के पास वाली उंगली को अंगूठे से स्पर्श किया जाता है।

8. लिंग मुद्रा :- इसमें दोनों हाथों की उंगलियों को एक दूसरे में फंसा फिर मुट्ठी बनाते हैं और बाएं हाथ के अंगूठे को ऊपर खड़ा करते हुए दाएं हाथ के अंगूठे को उसके पीछे लगाते हैं।

9. यमपाशम मुद्रा :- इसमें दोनों हाथों की वायु तत्व की प्रतिनिधि तर्जनी उंगली को मतलब अंगूठे के पास वाली उंगलियों को एक दूसरे से बांधकर शेष उंगलियों की मुट्ठी बनाते हैं।

कौन सी मुद्रा कौन सा रोग दूर करती है:- लिंग मुद्रा सर्दी और जुकाम दोनों दूर करती है। प्राण मुद्रा नेत्र रोग दूर करती है। वायु मुद्रा मुंहासे दूर करती है। आकाश मुद्रा कान का रोग दूर करती है। सूर्य मुद्रा मधुमेह दूर करती है। लिंग मुद्रा निम्न रक्तचाप दूर करती है और सूर्य मुद्रा लीवर संबंधी रोग दूर करती है। इन हस्त मुद्राओं को करते समय प्रयोगकर्ता को पद्मासन अवस्था में बैठना चाहिए। फिर गर्दन, पीठ एवं भुजा सीधी रखते हुए, मुद्राओं को करना चाहिए। मुद्राओं को करते समय अपने इष्ट देव का ध्यान करना चाहिए।
